So, I promised myself this week I was going to use a different song (one by Damien Rice which I absolutely adore) but instead I’ve found myself obsessively listening to the entire Wolves album by Former Vandal. I also promised myself I would work on a special Thalia novella for everyone, but the muses struck and I’ve found myself working on the prequel to Lethal Sin while my editor tears through Tara (book 2 of the Daughters of Eltera series). Which means that THIS song, has been on repeat, because it’s fantastically perfect. What song am I talking about? ‘If the Money’s Good’ by Former Vandal!
This is a kickass song, and so perfect for Camille’s early days and how she stumbled her way into the assassin life. I think that everyone who enjoyed Lethal Sin is going to love her prequel, even though it’s darker and grittier (if you thought that was possible!).
Favorite lyrics?
‘Cause I plan on not dying and I don’t care how (You always want more) The money makes up for a good time, good time And I’ll do what I need to survive, survive It’s not like I’m dead inside But you gotta kill your morals if you wanna survive ‘Cause the guilt’s not heavy if the cash flows steady I’d sell my own soul if the money’s good.
Don’t try to rationalize ‘Cause you’ll never make sense of it ‘Cause it’s kill or wait to be killed You’re the only one who benefits ‘Cause I don’t trust no one and I won’t start now (It’s a bloodsport) ‘Cause it’s dog eat dog so you do what you need ‘Cause you gotta eat somehow
This week’s Music Monday is showing up a little late in the day because I was out all weekend with one of my best friends and didn’t have the chance to get this post prepped! Still, I’ve got a great song for you this week, ‘Know Your Exit’ by Vivian Darkbloom. I’m currently working away on edits to ‘Tara’, book 2 in my Daughters of Eltera series, and I’ve been excited to hear how many people have been hoping for me to continue the series after ‘Fae‘ came out last year. (PS – ‘Fae‘ got a new cover this past week, scroll back in the blog to check it out!).
Now, I love the lyrics in this song, so I wanted to share some:
Am I really happy? or am I really freaking out? I ask myself these questions whenever I’m not myself, whenever I’m not myself. And there’s no one, no one, to set me straight, when I’m uneven.
This week’s Music Monday is a song that has been beautiful in almost every version I’ve heard since the original with Louis Armstrong. In Joseph William Morgan’s version (feat. Shadow Royale) the song has been slowed down, and there’s a different tone in his voice that is haunting. We all probably know the lyrics by heart, but when I heard this version it made me sit up and pay attention. Go ahead and scroll down and hit play, because I’ve got an exciting announcement I want to share too!
‘Lethal Sin’ is live on Amazon today! As I’ve said on many posts over the last month or so, this book is available FREE to anyone on my mailing list. If you’ve already grabbed a copy, I’d appreciate if you could take a few minutes this week to head on over to Amazon and leave a review! It would help in bringing attention to the book, and my other works… also, I just really want to hear what you think of the first book in my Dangerous Games series. ^_^
Let’s get back to this haunting remake, though.
A few of my favorite lyrics:
I see skies of blue and clouds of white The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night And I think to myself what a wonderful world.
…
I hear babies cry, and I watched them grow They’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know And I think to myself what a wonderful world. Yes, I think to myself what a wonderful world.
‘What a Wonderful World’ by Joseph William Morgan (feat. Shadow Royale)
It’s another Music Monday and I found the perfect song by Of Verona… ‘Dark in my Imagination’! I mean, really, for all of us dark erotica lovers? This is the perfect song. All of our imaginations are so deliciously dark. I already loved Of Verona from several other songs and then this one popped up on my Spotify mix and I immediately stood to attention. You’re going to love it (go ahead and scroll down and hit play!). The video from them is pretty cool because it has the lyrics on it as well.
Just a heads up that Lethal Sin is officially available for pre-order on Amazon, or you can just get it free for signing up on my mailing list! It’s a blast, and people have been sending me some great feedback. Watch out next Monday because that’s when it goes live and you can all post reviews!
Back to the music though… here’s some of the lyrics that just made me sit there and dance in my chair while listening:
There’s something in the look you give I can’t help myself I fall I can’t help myself at all There’s something in your touch when we kiss I scream god forgive me please ‘Cause I want you on your knees I don’t wanna think about it now I know I wont get out if I fall in So I don’t wanna think about it now It’s dark in my imagination It’s dark in my imagination
This week for Music Monday I found another cool song, this time it’s ‘Black Sea’ by Natasha Blume. It has this awesome retro quality in the beginning that instantly made my ears perk up, and then (as usual) the lyrics hooked me completely.
A thousand nights have passed change doesn’t happen overnight Not visible at first It’s important to hold on (hold on)
Oh, oh, oh, oh inject your advice to me (inject your advice to me) Oh, oh, oh, oh incinerate our shackles
Come down to the Black Sea swimming with me ah-oh Go down with me fall with me let’s make it worth it ah-oh
You rise, I fall, I stand, you crawl You twist, I turn, who’s the first to burn? You sit and stay, I don’t obey Where do we land in the Black Sea? Oh, oh, oh, oh in the Black Sea Where do we land in the Black Sea?
Hope you enjoy this one, lovelies, it’s one of those I predict you’ll be playing on repeat just like I have this week!
For this week’s Music Monday I knew I was going to use this song the moment I heard it on Spotify. It’s ‘Hollow’ by Cloudeater. The beat, his voice, and the LYRICS. I just love this song. I’ve listened to it an inhuman number of times as I worked and did edits this week on Lethal Sin. It’s just fantastic and I hope you all love it as much as I do!
My world was pretty exciting this past week though. ‘Taken by the Enemy‘ held the #1 spot in three categories on Amazon for 8 days (it just slid to #2 late on Sunday), and ‘Security Binds Her‘ which is Book 1 of the Thalia series held BDSM erotica #2 for six days (and I think it may still be there?). What’s even more amazing is that at one point on Sunday I had 4 books in the top 20 on Amazon for BDSM erotica. Taken, and all three books of the Thalia trilogy. I also went as high as #4 on the Amazon Erotica Authors list, and have happily sat at #6 since then. I am ecstatic to know people are finding my books, and seem to be enjoying them as they devour the whole Thalia series!
Anyway, enough of my rambling about my week, we’re here for MUSIC today! For ‘Hollow’ I couldn’t even pick the lyrics I liked, so this is pretty much the entire song, absent some repetitions, but – oh my god – it’s so perfect. Go ahead and scroll down to play the song while you read along, there’s no video for this one!
I wait in intermission I remove inhibition I don’t speak, nobody’s listening It’s not safe to seek the attention
I won’t sink, I won’t wallow In this dream that I have borrowed So don’t lead, I won’t follow There’s no sense in waiting for tomorrow
Cause I’m hollow, hollow, hollow, hollow…
I move in all directions I don’t need any protection And this beast is interjecting And this soul can’t help but connect it
And I’m ill with all that I know Cause it shows what little I know I want sacred, I want final And I’m seeking it wherever I go
Cause I’m hollow, hollow, hollow, hollow…
I stay empty, I feel the hunger So simple when I was younger I awaken with the thunder A bold statement to end my slumber
And this feeling has got a window Til I’m numb, til I am blissful Til the sum outweighs the mental Til the blood of both is my limbo
And I’m hollow, hollow, hollow, hollow …
I’d find an answer if I wanted to I’d be a dancer of a different tune I won’t get entranced, I’ll be changing soon
