This almost feels like a song you’d hear at the club, but the lyrics are just fantastic. I love the way it switches between a female rapping and then a guy doing the lyrical, singing parts. Oh, lovelies, the song for this #MusicMonday is Insomnia by IAMX and it’s one of those that I liked the first time I heard it, and then I heard it again when I was working late on ‘Black Light: Exposed’ and just completely fell in love. I’ve had it in my head all week, I’ve probably listened to it a hundred times, and I just adore it. There’s something to the lyrics, and the way he kind of loses it while he’s singing, that just makes Insomnia stand out. Enjoy!

It’s #MusicMonday again and I know many of us are in recovery after the holiday weekend. I think that’s why ‘Can You Hold Me’ by NF and Britt Nicole is the perfect way to ease back into the weak. Their dual vocals are absolutely beautiful (like Civil Wars, but with a little less twang), and I love the way the instrumental behind their vocals moves the whole song like a story, as it rises to a crescendo and the song shifts too. That one line “If lonely’s a taste, then it’s all that I’m tasting” stole my breath away. Just beautiful and I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it. Today’s #MusicMonday is special because A) I’ve always loved the band Until the Ribbon Breaks (they have so many cool songs), and B) a reader of mine sent me this song saying that it reminded her of Marcus from Security Binds Her (and the rest of the Thalia series for that matter). I have to say, I completely agree. The song was originally from Blondie, and her version feels more peppy even though the lyrics are just as psycho. However, the way UTRB does it just gives you chills, and it puts me in a perfect mood to write some dark and devious erotica – because the entire song is basically one long threat. Alright, lovelies, today is #MusicMonday again and I have such a crazy song for you. It’s ‘Mad Hatter’ from Melanie Martinez and the moment I heard it my ears perked up because my good friend Addison Cain just wrote a very, very wicked version of the fairy tale Alice in Wonderland for that twisted fairy tales anthology I’m in (which comes out in JANUARY!).
