Today’s #MusicMonday is a little more mellow than usual, a soft and sweet song, but I just love Gabrielle Aplin’s voice in “The Power of Love” and there’s something about it that reminds me more of poetry than song lyrics (although that’s not unusual). This is a song to relax to, the video is lovely as well (scroll down and hit play). Then sip some tea, and just enjoy the emotion she threads into the lyrics. If you’ve got a romantic soul, I think you’ll love it (and if you’re like me and just appreciate good vocals, you’ll love it anyway).

Favorite Lyrics

Dreams are like angels,
they keep bad at bay.
Love is the light
scaring darkness away.
I am so in love with you.
Make love your goal.

The power of love,
a force from above,
cleaning my soul.
Flame on, burn desire,
love with tongues of fire,
purge the soul.
Make love your goal.

I’ll protect you from the hooded claw.
Keep the vampires from your door.
When the chips are down, I’ll be around,
with my undying, death-defying love for you.
Envy will hurt itself.
Let yourself be beautiful,
sparkling light, flowers, and pearls, and pretty girls.
Love is like an energy,
rushing in, rushing inside of me.

. . . [chorus]

This time we go sublime,
lovers entwined divine, divine.
Love is danger, love is pleasure,
love is pure, the only treasure.
I am so in love with you.
Make love your goal.
