‘Fae’, the first book in my Daughters of Eltera series, is live on Amazon! For an author, I feel like I’m always at a loss for words when it comes to this book because it took me so long to actually release it. This was one of my early drafts when I started writing like a ‘real author’. Meaning, not just scrawling down random scenes I liked and never coming back to them. This started as a Nanowrimo attempt, and snowballed into a full-length novel with an entire world around it that I plan on spending years and years writing books for (as long as people like it?).
Actually, to be honest, I’ll probably keep putting out a book a year in this series (at least) because I love it so much. The first draft of this book was actually done before I even started writing Thalia’s trilogy. I did an epic rewrite of it over this summer, after it sat on a digital shelf for a few years, and I have to thank my lovely British editor and my good author friend, Myra Danvers, for helping me with editing the drafts that came after as I reworked it.
Working on something that’s lived in your head for that long can be hard. You know the characters too well, the story too well, and as an author you become so damn attached to it. BUT – the edits were worth it. The time was worth it, and I’m so much happier with this final version of the story than I ever was before. I’m also over halfway through book 2 in the series, and although it’s down the list on my to-write list, it will definitely happen. I like it too much, and I have too many friends invested in the universe to let it go!
It would mean the world to me for you to grab a copy and leave a review on Amazon to tell me what you think about it. Although it’s not erotica (closer to romance since it’s not as full of sexy time as my other books) and it has a paranormal element with the main character being a bad-ass immortal warrior, it’s still dark, and I hope you all give it a chance.
Here’s one of the first reviews that have come out from my beta readers, and it made me squeal with joy:
“I. Freaking. Loved. This. Book!!
From the first, it grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go. In typical Jennifer Bene style, it’s a little dark and gritty, but the leading lady is a full serving of awesome and you’ll find yourself cheering for Fae as her tale unfolds. How could you not love an ancient warrior gifted with her Goddesses’ touch? Fae is a woman who perseveres through the ages, in spite of incredible odds, and terrible circumstances.
And then she meets Kiernan.
Do yourself a favor and dive into Fae’s universe. You won’t be disappointed.”
In conclusion, Fae is up on Amazon. Here are the links, and I hope you enjoy it!
